Winter Love,
Austrian Tirol
in the
The Austrian Tirol is the picture-perfect winter - whatever that means to you. It’s groomed pistes, untouched powder fields, enchanting forest walks, icy rivers and snow-topped church bells waking up charming alpine villages. It is romantic panoramas over imposing, rugged mountain tops, juxtaposed by the warm hospitality of the mountain huts which serve up steaming hot tea and mouthwatering Kaiserschmarrn near an open fire. It’s the perfect winter dream, whether you love cruising the pistes, puffing up powder or simply basking in the glow of the high-alpine snow. Tirol is where a true love for winter is alive, ready - and waiting for you.
In the Arlberg region, the cradle of alpine skiing, a huge array of slopes await across the famous resorts of St. Anton, Lech-Zürs and beyond, where some of the best ski touring in Austria meets fine dining and wine cellars with unrivalled pedigree. Further into Tirol, Ischgl is another hub of gastronomy and entertainment, playing host to some of the most exciting chefs in Austria - as well as a huge piste map straying into Switzerland. This is indulgence at its finest.
In the Ski Juwel in Tirol, the valleys of Alpbachtal and Wildschönau are so picturesque you’ll have to pinch yourself to check you’re not dreaming. Sloping wooden mountain huts are backdropped by church spires and mountain tops. This is a family-friendly haven tucked between the Zillertal and Kitzbühel Alps, where enchanting forest walks await in the powdery snow.

Touch down on the Innsbruck runway and you’ll find yourself immediately surrounded by mountains. This is Europe’s great mountain city, where high, craggy alps backdrop streets coated in traditional architecture and drenched in history, and where stylish bars and market squares look onto the river Inn and the bright houses that line it beneath the Nordkette.
St. Johann in Tirol is a small but mighty resort, with a historic town centre. The skiing boasts views of the Kitzbüheler Horn and off the pistes, floodlit tobogganing runs await, as well as dreamy snowshoe and hiking routes, past rivers, into forests and to ancient hermitage sites. It’s also near the gargantuan resort of Zillertal, Tirol’s pick for those who hate to see the same piste twice. Here, you’re granted access to 544km on one pass - including the high-altitude runs on the Hintertux Glacier and the famous resort of Mayrhofen.
It’s not to be confused with SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, one of the most ecological-minded ski resorts in the world, where the tree line skiing makes for perfect powder day and one of the country’s highest restaurants will give you views of the Wilder Kaiser range and beyond as you munch down your region specialities - from Käsespätzle to Tiroler Gröstl.
Winter in the Austrian Tirol is puffy powder lines, wooden cabins with warm fires and cheesy goodness waiting within, and huge mountains.
The Austrian Tirol is winter love.
